LR2
Long Range 2
Meaning
An LR2 is a long range product tanker of about 80,000 to 160,000 deadweight tonnes, typically Aframax-sized with coated tanks for clean products.
Also written as LR2 tanker
LR2 explained
LR2s carry naphtha, jet fuel and diesel on long-haul routes, such as Arabian Gulf naphtha to Japan. Many LR2s can switch between clean and dirty trades, so the clean/dirty spread affects their employment.
